Decasia

Bill Morrison’s film, the state of Decay was way beyond my expectation. It started out with the unpleasant sound of detuned instruments As the music began, the images started appearing, but they were not presented in the way I was expecting. It was like I have seen anything like these before. As I illustrate the  piece, gradually this group of children marched and it looked like they were walking towards you. Somewhat, it reminded me of a scene from a horror movie because the background music set the revolting atmosphere. Nothing was done in the actual film prints, Morrison borrowed most of the images from facilities. Moreover, the actual film parts accelerate the decomposition well. In spite of the disturbing music and all the frightening images, Morrison created such an abstract world that somewhat reflected every issues in our society.
